Terry,
My heart goes out to you and Tina for the way the campaign ended. Unfortunately for the residents of Coconino County are the ones that will lose in their decision not to elect you their Sheriff. You are not only a great leader and supervisor but a wonderful brother as well. Shoot me an email BRO!

Let's all write in Terry Lawson as a write-in candidate on November 7th.

You are a good man T and you have done a good job. Everyone that has met you at each stage of your life has gotten a chance to experience that and now this website has given us all a chance to express it. Coconino County has been lucky to have you in its corner. You have made a difference in many people’s lives. You have a great deal to be proud of at this point in your life. You’re a man of many talents and I hope you get the chance to follow them all to their limits. I remember the talented artist and now this website has shown me the dedicated lawman. The website has given not only Coconino County a chance to see who you are but your friends around the state and the country to catch up with who you are today. I wish you much luck and happiness.

To the Coward or Cowards who threw a brick threw the rear window of a vehicle parked at Bill Pribil's house on election night.
You should step foward and show your face. Identify yourself. You should offer an apology to Bill Pribil and his family. You should offer an apology to the Citizens of Coconino County and the Citizens of Flagstaff. You should offer an opology to Terry Lawson because you have cast a shadow on his campaign. But you won't because you are a lowdown, stinking, terrorist, coward.
If I still lived in Flagstaff I would personaly hunt you down. I would look under every rock, every brick, and in every hole until I found you. I would then drag you to the new, overcrowded Coconino County Jail and have them book you. I'm sure Sheriff-Elect Bill Pribil could find room for you. You lowdown, stinking, terrorist, Coward/Cowards. Det. Lt. Tom Brawley, Retired. BANGKOK, THAILAND

T - what a campaign. It was truly amazing to watch from a distance. I hope you're as proud of your effort as everyone else is. I know you'll continue to do great things (maybe it's time to go be an artist?) and touch many lives. Incredible effort T.

Tina and Terry,
It was a pleasure to work on your campaign. While I am disgusted, disappointed, and sad, all at the same time today, I am a better person to have worked for your election. Good luck to you both.

Our thanks goes out to you Mrs. Sifling and thousands of other supporters. We fought a GREAT fight and are proud of the efforts of those who surrounded us with friendship and love. I feel we had more active supporters than any other candidate in this election. You were with us from beginning to end. Terry and I are truly blessed to have all of you in our lives. YOU have made this campaign a success! It is time to move on and to explore the next venture…….. We have touched and been touched by so many people throughout this campaign and it has been priceless. YOU the employees and citizens of Coconino County are what drove this campaign. Look at the numbers! It is incredible how much we all accomplished in so little time. YOU ARE AMAZING individuals and we love you all! This community hasn’t seen the last of the Lawson’s; we will stay engaged and informed. We can still make a difference in this community and, so can you. I am hoping that everyone realizes how important it is to stay informed of the voting process, research your candidates and GET OUT AND VOTE in every election!
XOXO
Tina Lawson
Hey Terry and Tina... I just wanted to express how impressed I was with your professionalism and drive during the campaign. I'm sorry for the outcome - you fought an uphill battle the whole way. You will do great things Terry - look for your passion and go for it! Now we (the entire CCSO family) will watch and see how things unfold. Everyone will be watching to see if Bill Pribil follows through on his promises... who knows - there's always 2008 if he doesn't! Thanks for letting me be a part of things. Love you guys!!

I am absolutly in awe at the response that this campaign has drawn. I have experienced first hand Terry's selfless character as he has been such a positive influence on my life, yet I never realized that he had made such an impression with the people of Coconino County and beyond.
To everyone who has encouraged Terry and worked so tirelessly on the campaign: you are awesome! My parents have some of the most gracious friends and colleagues- I know that they could not have done any of this without you.
Terry and Mom, you guys have worked so hard and selflessly to try to improve the work environment for the very people who support Terry. I am so proud of you for your endless energy and unfailing commitment. I so wish that I could be there tonight to hear the good news! You have been and will be in my thoughts all day today. GO TERRY!! Love-Andrea
To the poster who thinks there has been too much time wasted on our 1st Ammendment right, I would like to point out that this is a great privilege we have as Americans. Just because you don't agree with others opinions does not mean that issues and opinions don't have validity. We are standing up for what we think is right. In my earlier statement about my disappointment of an answer that Chief Pribil gave in an open forum, it was not bashing Chief Pribal, it was my opinion that I strongly disagreed with his answer. I am also one of the posters that misspelled Chief Pribil's name. This is not due to my lack of knowledge of him or what he stands for. It was a oversite. In fact I do know Chief Prible, and he has always treated me with respect and kindness. I would like to thank Sheriff Joe Richards for his years of dedication. I do feel that TERRY is the best canidate for the job. PLEASE GO VOTE........ THANK YOU TERRY

Sept 7, 2004. This is the day of reckoning. First, I would like to point out, as the webmaster of this site, that not only have we left the posting wide open to anyone with anything to say, we did consider that not everyone would agree with Terry, and some might not have nice things to say. There is also the possibility that online "graffiti" might be written. I can honestly say that as of the time of this posting, not only has nothing been edited as far as posts go, but detractors have been allowed to post their points of view as well. The only posts that have been removed have been duplicates- we didn't build in a true edit screen.
You will notice that Terry hasn't jumped in although I know he reads all of your posts. He has not done anything other than to keep talking about his points and his plans for the Sheriff's Office. He is not throwing gasoline on the fire. All of the posts are individuals expressing their points of view, mostly in support of Terry and his ideals. I have heard many times that Terry didn't jump into this race on a whim or to become a politician, but at the urging and insistence of his fellow workers in the Sheriff's Office. Based upon the posts here (nearly 100) I believe that to be the case.
Terry has literature and information on the main page of his site. Interestingly enough, the complaints about this site and this campaign point not to flaws in Terry's plan, but to opinions of people who are not necessarily involved in the campaign. If the supporters here did not believe in the value of Terry's plans, they either would not have posted or would have posted a true and proper counter point show that the other candidate has a better plan, is the better candidate for Sheriff and should be elected over Terry. That has not happened.
No one has pointed out the superiority of Bill's vision; the superior support that Bill has within the SO; the way Bill knows all employees by name; his positive uplifting outlook; his motivating personality. I don't know Bill and I don't work in the SO, but if any of these things existed surely at least one person would have noted it and posted here. Instead, there are complaints of Jerry Springer style campaigning. The last time I watched Jerry Springer women were flashing the audience for Mardi Gras type bead necklaces, body guards were holding the guests back so fights didn't break out and people were knocking chairs over. Those are definately things I have not seen here.
P. Fleming
Terry Lawson for Sheriff!! The 1st Amendment is a powerful right that is feared by only a lesser and weakly leader. This site presents the real hard issues, and Terry should be commended for encouraging public opinion about the very serious issues within the Coconino County Sheriffs Department.
V. Martinez, Flagstaff
Terry,
I would like to be the first in this forum to commend you on running an excellent campaign, and in a few hours we will know how it came out. There have been a few criticizms along the way, but you have opened a line of communication here in Northern Arizona that has never been available before. I certainly commend you again for that. Someone earlier said that this was the Jerry Springer approach, well I have not seen any posts from Sheriff Joe Richards nor canidate Bill Pribil. I would guess that they were welcome to post. As for the misspellings, some of those that were refrenced were attributable to me. So I am not the best speller in the world, but it may have helped had Mr Pribil had any campaign literature along the way. I have picked up your literature at several different stops and have even asked about Mr Pribil's and it is never available. I take that to presume that he has none. I think the campaign that has been run is admirable on both sides, but the campaign that you have run is excellent, and I would guess that you and your advisors put a lot of time and thought into your literature, signs, ads, and anything else you have put out/ Again, I would like to be the very first in this format to congratulate you on an excellent campaign, and I wish you luck tomorrow. GO TERRY GO!!!

In response to the prior contributor.
You would like people to think that you are an "educated" voter. If you have done so much research please tell me why I should vote for Bill Pribil. I have heard both candidates speak at forums. Mr. Pribil is very good at pointing out issues and problems, but he won't say a word about how he intends to fix them. Terry has put together a five point plan that is at least a beginning to try to solve some of the problems that are plaguing this county. He may not accomplish everything on his agenda, but it won't be for lack of trying. Where is Mr Pribil's plan??
You spent so much time criticizing the way that people type in your post that I'm surprised you were able to make any kind of point. You say that being sheriff is a "VERY important JOB". Wouldn't you rather have somebody in that position who has the desire and passion to do the job? Wouldn't you rather have somebody in that position who is willing to get his hands dirty and accomplsh some things? Wouldn't you rather have somebody in that position who is fiscally responsible and cares about the taxpayers money?
I would like somebody in the position of sheriff that embodies all of those things and other qualities to numerous to list here and that person is Terry Lawson.
a.
First off, I am not sure why anyone running for office would support anything of this nature. This is very indicative of the downfall of the United States in recent years. Why would you contribute to the Jerry Springer mentality? It truly pains me that EVERY issue that is pertinent to Coconino County is superceded by this political garbage. This County needs a Sheriff that will tackle issues head on and be a leader. I think it is about time that someone in this community stands up for what is right and actually gets something done. Forgive me if I am wrong, but I think there is WAY too much time wasted by your campaign trying to belittle your competitor. Half of the posters that degrade Mr. Pribil cannot even spell his name - this convinces me that the votes you are receiving are underserved due to lack of information. Seriously, how much research have you done when you cannot spell the name of the opponent? The reason I mention this is the fact that if voters were to do their homework, it would be easy to decide who is right for the JOB. Yes, this is a job – a VERY important job that will help shape the future of Coconino County. So please, look at the credentials of the candidates! This is a legitimate election, not a fraternity popularity contest.

Learned via the front page of the local paper of your "running". Didnt need to read the details--knew from working in the Sheriffs Dept/ Jail Div."knew" employees would want you in there, as Sheriff.
I'm personally glad you listened and "threw your hat in the ring" !
Im throwing my vote your way, and encouraging each and every Coconino Co. voter to do the same.
Having worked there and saw first hand your availability and hands on "knowing" of what was going on and being interestead. Means everything!

I have read all the wonderful comments in support of Terry. I do not know Sheriff Richards or Chief Pribil so I have nothing negative to say about either of these gentlemen. My comment is that I think Sheriff Richards should not have endorsed either Terry or Bill. Especially since apparently both men have done a outstanding job for Coconino County. I have only known Terry for a few years and not in S.O. enviornment. So I can not speak on that. I have had the pleasure to know Terry both as a friend and through our involvment with the Flagstaff Rotary Club. This is an organization who's motto is "Service Above Self". It goes without saying that Terry demonstrates this motto both in his personal life and professional life. He is always friendly and never condescending about anything or anyone. He is there to be in the trenches and get a little dirty with his peers. This is also highly apparent through the listings that I have read.
As far as a web site being fair or unfair? Terry, the www. is and has been a very powerful tool. The Sheriff and Chief have read it. Congratulations on demonstrating the use of it's power, and for demonstrating insight into the future of your peers and for this wonderful county of Northern Arizona that we live in. I'll see you and Tina at your victory celebration Tuesday. VOTE FOR TERRY LAWSON!
Sheriff of and for Coconino County.

I appreciate Terry Lawson allowing freedom of speech, as it is one of our rights as American citizens. It is sad that a former employee retiring more than 20 years ago has that much anger lingering towards Joe Richards. Apparently the “communication breakdown between the rank-and-file and top administrators” has been going on for a very long time! Yet, twenty years later, Joe Richards and Bill Pribil still can’t figure it out. I heard Mr. Lawson speak at a candidate's forum in Williams, AZ. Mr. Lawson had to get up and speak after Joe Richards stood up and endorsed Bill Pribil openly. I am not sure I could have shown the same respect to Joe Richards as Mr. Lawson did. He passionately commended Joe Richards for his years of service not only to the Sheriff’s Office but also to Coconino County and then, thanked him for what he had done for Terry during his career. YOU ARE A CLASS ACT TERRY! It was obvious to me that day that I want TERRY LAWSON to be my Sheriff! Terry you have shown a deep commitment to the employees and citizens of Coconino County throughout your campaign. You have passion and conviction and have set goals for the Sheriffs Office. Not only have you allowed others to speak but you have also exposed your ideas and thoughts to us the citizens. Thank you for putting yourself into this race. WE NEED YOUR LEADERSHIP!
Concerned Citizen
I have known Terry for over twenty years, and have dealt with him on both a professional and personal level. The man's character, professionalism, morals and ethics are unsurpassed. He is truly a man that can be trusted and relied upon, by both his subordinates, and the citizens of this county. Terry will be a Sheriff that is approachable by any needing to do so. He will listen to your/our concerns, and do whatever he can to help. I could go on and on about the good Terry will do for the Sheriff's office and Coconino's citizens, but it is apparent, that those who know him, and have either worked for, or are currently working with the Sheriff's office already know. I just hope the citizens can see, even as obvious as it is too me, that Terry is their man. GOOD LUCK TERRY!! YOU ARE A CLASS ACT!!
P.S. R.White, I sense a little jealousy that you didn't have a "guest appearance" on the show, or maybe it's just that you and your administration don't have this much support from your subordinates, or the citizens that can see through your act. You should take some lessons.

First of all I would like to say that Terry has taken the high road since the beginning of this endeaver. He has not criticized the current administration. Terry's website is not intended as a stratagy to create the impression of doubt in Bill's ability, as was quoted by Sheriff Joe Richards. This website is a way for Terry Supporters to get on board and say the truth. This web site is to get ideas out. Ww want others to know the integrity of our choice for Sheriff, and what he stands for. Chief Pribal has the same oppportunity to have his own website. I would have been interested in reading his supporters comments. Also at the beginning of this campaign, Terry did not seek us out, We sought him out to run for this position. We have the confidence he has the vision needed for the future of a solid, Sheriffs Dept. One more comment that appalled me was in a public forum, and an employee from the sheriff office asked Chief Pribal what his plan was for helping morale of his employees. He answered that this is not about employees, but the community. If this attitude continues we won't have people working at the Sheriffs office.
Plese vote for Terry Lawson on Tuesday.
Chief Pribal has has the same opportunity to create a web side of his own. I would have read it.

Terry, there's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said. So, best of luck to you! Oh yeah, LOOK ALIVE Coconino County... 'cause, HEEEEEEEERE'S TERRY!!!!!!

The Daily Sun, a pitiful publication, actually did a good deed today (9/5). That publication's poor front page story actually did you a favor. It showed that Pribil is NOT doing his job. He is campaigning on taxpayer money. It also proved that Sheriff Joe is a crybaby. He's stepping down. In that story, it was reported that Sheriff Joe was near tears. Why is he "weeping?" Because he did a poor job. The people of Coconino County only saw him in parades on his horse. It's time for a change!!! The jail is nearly as bad of a joke as the Flagstaff Justice Court has become. FJC is inefficient, there is always new help there, and FJC does not retain quality employees. I feel for the detention officers at the jail. Vote for change! Vote Terry!!!

I wanted to take the opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone who showed their support after todays ridiculous 'endorsement' by the Daily Sun. On the one hand they say Terry would be a better 'field commander' (wouldn't that mean serving the community and staff?) and lead you to believe that they were going to endorse Terry and then surprisingly they think Pribil is a better choice because of his 'management experience'???? Take a look at the ad in the paper under the article... who might I ask is supporting him? The fact is the vast majority of CCSO employees both civilian and sworn support Terry. As far as the FOP #13 endorsement - let's talk about a under attended meeting with no knowledge that a vote was taking place to endorse a candidate by many of the FOP members. It's time for a change and our family feels strongly that Terry has the leadership skills, vision and drive to take the CCSO to the next level. Please VOTE on Sept. 7 - You go TERRY!!

I was Chief of Detectives for the Coconino County Sheriff's Department for 10 years ( l973- l983 ) I knew Bill Pribil very well and I trained him as a Detective. He worked for me for 3 or 4 years. Bill was a hard working man and always did his job well. I do not know Terry Lawson at all but read many good things about him. The citizens of Coconino Counry are lucky to have two qualified men runing for the Office of Sheriff. Joe Richards was the most Unqualified man I worked for in my whole life. He was fired from the Sheriff's Department where he worked as a Patrol Sgt. by Sheriff Cecil Richardson who could not let Sgt. Joe continue to disrupt the Sheriff' Dept with his total lack of leadership and lying backstabbing ways. Richards never had 1 drop of Leadership in his body and as a result you have the Sheriff's Dept that you have today. The best thing about this election is that Joe Richards will no longer be there!! There will be a NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN tomarrow. I don't know if it will be Pribil or Lawson but it won't be Joe Richards and that is a very good thing. Det. Lt. Tom Brawley, Retired. BANGKOK, THAILAND

I have read with interest the comments posted on here all day. Wow has the site really come alive. If this is any indication of the support Terry has on Tuesday, it could be a landslide. One thing I would like to comment on is that someone recently said he or she believed it was Pribil's job to be addressing employee concerns right now. I wish to add if he can not figure out how to address employee concerns what are the citizens to expect. This man is currently the Chief Deputy of the Sheriff's Office, and it would be my understanding that he has that job first and foremost. If his job as a candidate is coming first, then I really have a problem with that. Beside that, the way I read this campaign, there are other issues beside the employee issues, and it seems the Arizona Daily Sun and the current Sheriff's administration with Chief Pribil included always have the same answer, and that is to throw money at the problem. I would agree that money is part of the problem, but it is in no way the entire problem. What about the jail? It is going to be a major issue when this election is over. Are we the voters going to leave it in the hands of someone who already had it so deep in debt that they could hardly see out, or are we going to trust it to the man who turned it around. Come on take a look at your pocketbook, if your money is a valuable to you as it is to me VOTE FOR TERRY!!! GO TERRY GO!

I just read the article in the Daily Sun and I felt I had to express my opinion as a Deputy Sheriff. I have been with the Coconino County Sheriff's Office for many years and I wanted to make a few points in reference to the newspaper article. First, if the Sheriff is aware of all of the problems facing our agency, why has he not confronted them head on. Second, since B. Pribil is currently the Chief of the Sheriff's Office, why has he not done anything regardless of the election. Should it not be his job to address the concerns and problems with the Sheriff's Office right now! I would think so, but there has been no effort on his part. I do have respect for B. Pribil as a person but I do not feel that he has the leadership style to be the Sheriff of Coconino County.
Joe Richards says in his own words that their are problems and he does not know how to address them, but he wants everyone to support his Chief that is also aware of these problems and yet they continue to grow. What is B. Pribil waiting for, it is his job right now to fix these issues and gain the respect of all the employees at the Sheriff's Office. Third, the article states that some of the employee's support Terry Lawson for Sheriff. This is not the case, I strongly believe that at least 85% of all the Jail and Patrol staff support Terry for Sheriff. Thas says alot about a person and so does this site. Terry has run a very clean campaign which shows how much respect and professionalism he truly has. Please make the right choice for the citizens of this county and support T. Lawson for Sheriff. He is truly the right choice.

Wow! What a response to Terry's campaign for Sheriff. Having retired in May of 2003 I had no idea the sentiment would be so strong in Terry's favor, although I can certainly see why. I'm glad to see so many people finally speak up and express their opinions in no uncertain terms. It's about time your voices are being heard out loud. For those who signed their names, good for you. For those who signed "Annonymous" I can understand your reluctance.
Even though I have always gotten along well with Bill Pribil I must say that the overall atmosphere during my years with the department was one in which it was well known that if you wanted to rise in the ranks it was wise to wear the "JR" brand. Those who didn't, rarely progressed far in the department and those who did rise with the "JR" brand and then shed that brand, often found themselves on the outside of the "favored ones."
Those of us who chose not to wear the brand had to accept the consequences, which usually meant a stagnation in one's career path. I for one have no complaints with where I ended my career but others may have wanted more.
I know that Terry Lawson will not have his own brand, much less expect others to wear it. Pribil is an honest man and did a good job for all his years but it's time for a change, to someone who has his own ideas and someone who won't continue to be influenced by old politics and old politicians.
It's time for Sheriff Richards to take his well earned retirement and to take the "JR" brand with him. For Bill Pribil it's time to move on to something new and leave the department in the hands of someone who has new ideas.
My support goes to Terry Lawson. Sorry I'm not living there to vote for you Terry, but good luck.

I have worked for both Bill Pribil and Terry Lawson. I was extremly proud to serve the people of Coconino County. I feel that Terry is more concerned with the well being and safety of the employee's of the Sheriff's department and is earnestly concerned with serving all of the people in Coconino County not just the political few. Coconino County is the second largest county in the United States. Terry realizes that and is ready, willing, and able to serve us!

The Sunday, September 5th Daily Sun article, again points to why Terry Lawson is the one person to be elected to the Office of Sheriff for Coconino County. He has displayed a focus on the issues that have plagued the Sheriff's Office and the Jail District for the last few years. Leadership is about providing direction and establishing goals that one can embrace and use to become effective in doing one's job. That is what Terry offeres to the citizens of the county and to the employees of CSO. A vote for Terry is a vote for positive community based law enforcement.
S. West
This morning I opened my morning news paper, and I could not believe what I was reading. Is there a bigger reason to vote for Terry Lawson? First, there is a front page article about the discord among Sheriff's office employees over this election. Well that tells me that the current administration does not have a clue what is going on among the employees under them. If they knew and cared about the employees and the citizens of Coconino County, they would have overwhelming support among the employees. Most young men and women get into law enforcement because they want to make a difference in the community. If those same men and women felt they were making a difference, there is no doubt in my mind that the current administration Bill Pribel included would have overwhelming support of the troops. It is my understanding that they basically have no support of the troops. That is apalling to me.
The second issue is the paper is the jail. We are told in the editorial that Terry Lawson turned the jail around, and that Bill has been left to hold on. Let me pose a question here. Who was the person who oversaw the jail before Terry was installed as the jail commander? That person was quite specifically Bill Pribel, and we are told he is going to be a good Sheriff when he let the jail get that far out of kilter in the first place. I am a tax paying citizen, and I am getting sick and tired of politicians coming up with excusses to spend my money. I know it takes money to run a government, and I fully support that, but because on some level that money is someone elses hard earned money our politicians have a responsibility to spend it wisely. Can I honestly say Bill spent our money wisely? NO!!!!
Terry has worked very hard during this campaign, and while he may not have every answer to every question, I believe he has the best interest of the citizens of Cococnino County and the employees of the Sheriffs Office in his heart, and that is enough for me. I endorse and will support Terry Lawson for the office of Sheriff. GO TERRY GO
W. WIN
Terry is a people person, one that will get the job done as many others have said. Throughout my past employment as an officer in the jail, I have seen and spoke with Terry on several occasions. Terry is a man who will jump in with both feet and is definetely not afraid to get his hands dirty. I highly respect Bill Pribil but my opinion is a man seen is a man heard. I only saw Bil Pribil once in the jail before this entire election came about. Very few employees on the jail side knew who Bill Pribil was before election year. Terry addresses the concerns of not only the community, but the employees under his command as well. Good luck Terry.

*** Republicans for Lawson. *** My wife and I have not had the opportunity to meet Mr. Pribil, but we have had the privilege of personally speaking with Terry Lawson at length about his plans to improve the Coconino County Sheriff's department and to better server our community. We were very impressed with Terry and his vision for the future of the department and his commitment to its "customers", the citizens of Coconino County. We support Terry Lawson for Sheriff and hope to also support him in that office.

To the voters of Coconino County. I would like to show my support for Terry in this election.
It is just too bad that one of these fine gentlemen will not be the sheriff.
Both men are exceptional men but my support is for Terry for some of the following reasons.
Terry has always gone out of his way to connect with all people, not just some.
It is my belief this is an essential quality in a person who will become sheriff.
Terry takes the time, even when he is busy, to stop and talk about any issue a person wants to.
Terry is very well versed on the entire issues pertaining to the sheriff's department and most importantly the employees of this office.
Since I have been a law enforcement officer for nearly 31 years, part of that served at another sheriff's department in Arizona, keeping employees well informed and caring about their needs is one of the most powerful tools a sheriff can work with. You show the employees you will work for and with them and the sheriff will get the support from his work force unlike any other. It's called TEAM WORK.
Many studies have shown that most people do not leave a job primarily because of pay, however it is a factor. The most significant reason is because of poor communication between managers and subordinates.
I have seen Terry in action and can tell you that he does not lack in communication skills and not a single person, no matter what nationality, income level, or status will be left out. He talks to everyone and most importantly listens to what everyone has to say.
Terry is young, energetic and champing at the bit to get started as your sheriff of Coconino County.
Terry didn't retire to quit working. He retired to devote his own time, not the sheriff's office time, to work for the people of Coconino County on his own time and his own money to campaign for the office of sheriff. For that I commend you.
To the voters of Coconino County I urge you to support Terry Lawson as your next Sheriff of Coconino County.
D. Thomas, Flagstaff
Terry, I wish you the best in the upcoming election. While I am no longer in Flagstaff and Coconino County, I am still very much interested in what is going on there. I believe you to be the best candidate for Sheriff. Your integrity stands out above all the rest!
Best Wishes!

I would like to wish Terry and the members of his campaign staff and staff-to-be the best of luck, although, it isn't necessary. Terry is the best candidate for the job. Having recently worked, in a closely related government system, I can say that with out a doubt, if you want to see change, strong, effective, trustworthy change, Terry is the only choice. Like any agency, through time, old ideas become less flexible, deteriorate, and prevent simple daily operation from going smoothly. Sometimes new growth that intermingles with the old and crumbling foundation, clash. A candidate that is aware of this fact and is willing to take on the monumental task of filtering out all that is good and healthy from what has become a stale and an ineffective way of thinking and operating, and, combining that knowledge with new and fresh ideas is a candidate that is willing and unafraid to think outside the box and is smart and confident enough to surround themselves with a strong staff to help support them. Coconino County is long overdo and desperately in need of strong leadership. Can we say this about Pribil? I'm thinking, most likely, NOT. At least, from what I have experienced. However, Terry has all the ingredients. He's ready, he's willing, and he's VERY much, able. Terry is the only choice.

OK OK all you Terry supporters, there is one weekend left before the big day. Be sure to tell all your friends, neighbors, and any other resident of Coconino County to vote for Terry on September 7th. I know that Terry is going to win, but all of the support that we can muster will ensure that. Just be sure, anyone you run across knows VOTE FOR TERRY.
GO TERRY GO!!!!

Terry’s dedication, integrity and ability make him THE obvious choice for Sheriff! More obvious is how easy it is to see that Terry is a doer - enthusiastic, energetic, and tireless. I’ve seen this in the many months leading up to this election, I’m certain you all have witnessed this throughout his career. With the support of family, friends, and colleagues Terry has accomplished much. With your vote you will have someone that can, and will, DO so much more for the Department and for the community. Doers make good leaders - VOTE for TERRY!

I would like to commend Terry Lawson for the dedication and commitment that he has put into this campaign along with the support of his wife Tina who has been by his side. Terry responded to the request of his employees and community to run for Sheriff. People have always believed in Terry because of his motivation and positive outlook in all situations. I have worked with Terry for about twenty years. During this time I have received the honor of his friendship, professionally and personally. About seventeen years ago Terry was my FTO (Field Training Officer), even early in his carrier Terry showed the signs of his positive outlook and motivation that he showed towards the people he worked with. The result was a motivated person, with this comes good productivity. This is what I believe Terry will bring to the Sheriff’s office. It appears that the currant board of supervisors does not respond to the current administration for what ever reason, currant or pasted problems. It is my belief that the board will respond to Terry Lawson as Sheriff, they are ready to listen. With this it is my belief that it will be beneficial to the employees of the Sheriff’s Department. Terry has the ability to present issues in a way that people listen and what to become involved, which does not appear to be happing at this time. Terry is devoted, to the people he works with and the community. He will be honest with the public with the problems in the Sheriff’s Department, he won’t continue to tell the public that everything is ok, its not, we need to move forward. Just as Terry has supported me in the past I am supporting him to become our next Sheriff. Good luck Terry, I will enjoy working for you.

Terry is the right man for the job - that's the bottom line. This County could not ask for a more honest, energetic, forward-thinking Sheriff. We would be so fortunate to have Terry be the next Sheriff. Terry is one of those people who you can present an idea to, and he won't say "because it's not my idea, it's not a good idea". He is always open minded and will always take the time to listen. I think it's time for the Sheriff's Office to have a leader who cares about the people who work for him - after all, we are the backbone that makes up the Sheriff's Office - it's not just about the Sheriff. Terry, we support you 100% and I for one am looking forward to working for you.

I have worked in the jail division for the past 4.5 years. It's no surprise that the best of those years, was when Terry was Jail Commander. I hope these messages get out to the community, they need to know what Terry is all about. If they did, this wouldn't be a close race at all. I can say that I have never had a problem with Pribil, unfortunately, that is because I don't know him at all, and in 4.5 years, have never held a conversation with the man. Terry on the other hand, has always gone out of his way to ask how things were going, when he did, he always called me by my first name, the current administration doesn't even know my last name. This election is very important to the employees of the Sherrif's Department. There are so many of us whose feel our careers and/or happiness depend on Terry winning the election. Terry I just want to tell you good luck, we are all with you.

Citizens of Coconino County, if you would like to see a vast improvement in the services you expect and deserve from the Coconino County Sheriff's Office, it is up to you to vote on September 7. Most of you do not need us until something terribly wrong happens to you, your family or your neighbors. Terry LAWson deserves your support to help him implement his new ideas in community policing, bringing back programs that were cut, and creating a better partnership between our officers and you, the people we serve. Did you know that the Domestic Violence Investigation Unit was cut? Did you see what happened in Kachina Village last week? Domestic violence homicide! We used to have trained investigators that worked domestic violence issues, now there are none. We don't know if the Unit would have prevented that tragedy, but the past DV team would do extensive follow-up on cases and retrieve weapons from homes if need be, and maybe an incident like this might not have happened. People, this is an important aspect of the Sheriff's Office that has gone away. Terry LAWson has made this one of his top priorities. Terry is a bright, compassionate, educated person, with integrity beyond reproach, who will lead your Sheriff's Office to a level you as citizens of Coconino County expect, and ultimately deserve. I know this because I have worked for, and with, Terry for over 14 years. I have been a police officer for over 21 years, and in law enforcement for over 27 years. I have been shot at, lost friends due to violence, witnessed members of our community taken before their time. I have been a patrol supervisor and I have seen it all and basically done it all. I have the experience and knowledge to make the right choice for Sheriff, as do the majority of law enforcement, fire department and emergency services personnel who work in this county. Make the right choice - Terry Lawson for Sheriff.
T. Ross
I've known Terry for close to seven years and what stands out most to me is his character. Terry is always thinking about other people and likes to make others smile. He's someone who puts other people before himself.
Coconino County needs someone who has a genuine care for the people in it- someone with desire and dedication. Everything that Terry does he does it at 110%, and that's why you should vote for Terry Lawson.

If the people of Coconino County would like to know why Terry Lawson should be Sheriff, take a good look at what happened in Phoenix tonight (08-28-2004). The Phoenix Police Department responded to a situation and had 3 officers shot and a third on involved in a major traffic accident. Ask yourself who would better prepare your Sheriff's Office for such a situation? For me, the answer is easy, and that is Terry Lawson. Obviously, and without a doubt, I hope that we never have to respond as an agency or as a community to such a situation, but it can happen here, and for me, I would like to be as well prepared as I know we can be, and again the person for that is Terry Lawson. VOTE TERRY LAWSON FOR SHERIFF ON SEPTEMBER 7TH.

I have worked with and for Terry for 19 years. He has always been positive and a morale booster for the deparment. His passion and dedication for the job sets the bar for all employees. As a Supervisor, Terry has taken a hands on approach and always assisted in every aspect of the job - including the undesireable duties. He never asks anything of a subordinate that he is not willing to do himself. Terry is a true leader and the citizens of Coconino County will be well served with Terry as their Sheriff.
B. Cornish, Flagstaff
I had the pleasure of working with Terry for almost 5 years, 3 with Terry as my direct supervisor. Terry is always fair and available to listen, never judgmental or condescending. Terry was always supportive of job-related goals or ideas I presented to him, and carried those ideas up the chain of command where for the most part, they died a quick death. The current administration has done a great job of separating themselves from the rest of the department, becoming very out of touch with the employees and issues that we have, and it wasn't like that just a few short years ago when I started.
The department needs a breath of fresh air before it suffocates and morale declines even more. Just Terry's presence in the department, in the building, was always a burst of energy because he was upbeat, positive, and refused to be influenced by the negativity that employees are currently suffering through. The employees are doing a great job of sticking together and supporting each other through this campaign. As long as we stay united, we can make it happen. The Sheriff's Office will be a very exciting place to work when Terry takes office. I know Terry will prevail, and 99.9% of the employees support Terry with everything we have. It's important for the public to know, and question, why virtually all the Sheriff's Office employees support Terry Lawson for their next leader, and 3 or 4 support Bill Pribil.
We're sure you've got it wrapped up Terry, and we support you 100% !!
D. , Flagstaff
As a 16 year veteran of the Coconino County Sheriff's Office I have had the opportunity to work with and witness the integrity and leadership skills of Terry Lawson. Terry's open door policy and genuine concern for the community and personnel sets him apart from our current administration. Terry has demonstrated a true leadership ability that enhances the very moral that will not be improved with the election of Bill Pribil. As I have a high respect for Bill, he simply doesn't have the leadership skills for the people of Coconino County and the Sheriff's Office personnel required for the position of Sheriff. This is further demonstrated with Terry's proposed implementation of a 5-point plan of a Strategy for Success. Terry will make this happen. The citizens of Coconino County deserve to have a new era in progressive public safety. It is no wonder why the majority of employees and families with the Sheriff's Office are endorsing Terry Lawson. Terry has earned the respect from those who have been around him. I hope you will give Terry the opportunity to serve you as your next Sheriff.

Change is good for Coconino County. I wholeheartedly support Terry as our new Sheriff. He puts forth an aura of diligent professionalism and compassion for those he will serve including his employees, the incarcerated, and the public.

I have known Terry since my husband began his career with the Sheriff's Dept twelve years ago. The sentiments expressed in the comments regarding Terry come as no surprise. Terry is a man of integrity, compassion, and conviction. Terry is exactly what the Sheriff's Dept and Coconino county needs. He understands the problems, and knows what needs to be done to solve them. I have the utmost respect for Terry, and his pursuit in becoming our next sheriff.
K. Cornelius, Flagstaff
I have had the pleasure of knowing, and working with Terry for over 12 years. I first met Terry while I was testing to become a Deputy Sheriff with Coconino County. Terry was not only helping to run the testing, He also ran many mile and a half runs with potential employee's. I know his enthusiasm, and encouragement helped not only myself, but many other's going through the testing process.
After I was hired Terry became a good friend and an excellent supervisor. He has been my direct supervisor in the Jail Division, Patrol division and Criminal Investigations. I can honestly say Terry Lawson is The Coconino County Sheriff's Office in my eye's. There is not a finer man to lead the Sheriff's office into a brighter future. I am looking forward to the day you take office, as one of the best and brightest days in Coconino County.
Every one I know personnally at the Sheriff's Office is pulling for you!
I am looking forward to working with you again soon.

If I had to randomly pick a person who I thought would be the perfect candidate to run for sheriff, Terry Lawson would be the first person to come to mind. First hand, I have witnessed his care and concern for his fellow workers before he retired. Since Terry has retired, that care and concern has not only stayed the same, but has grown. Terry is a genuine person. There is nothing about him that is false or superficial. I know that when Terry is in office, he will not only be a great leader for the community, but be an active participant as part of the community. Terry is one of the only people that I have ever met that cares enough about his coworkers to take time out of not just his work schedule, but his personal schedule to call his peers at home when he knows they need a little motivation or boost of morale. I have been around law enforcement my entire life. I have known some of the best and some of the worst there are in all the agencies. Terry is one of the absolute best people I have ever met, not just in law enforcement, but in life. I look forward to and I am excited to see the positive changes and fresh ideas that Terry will bring to the CCSO and to the community. Terry-Way to go! We’re almost there!
----TERRY LAWSON for SHERIFF---
T. SLADE, FLAGSTAFF
My husband Lee,worked for Terry Lawson at the sheriffs office about 14 years ago. More recently, my son worked for him for seven years, until Terry's retirement. Terry is the same hard working, honest, dedicated team player now that he was 14 years ago. I've always admired his open door policy and his willingness to lead by example. One week before his retirement the deputies were being certified for the TAZER. Terry also stepped forward to be shocked to the point of loss of muscle control. I know he did this because he would never ask his employees to do anything that he would not do.
YOU WILL NEVER SEE PRIBLE CARRYING A TAZER.
Terry you have my vote!!

I have know Terry Lawson for over 10 years. I worked under him as a detention officer in the early 90's. I left the Sheriff's Dept in 1995 in part because the current administration was not doing the job that needed to be done for the employee's or the community. I encouraged Terry way back then to run for Sheriff. He is now doing just that! His dedication to the people that work for and with him is outstanding! He is one of the most honest and caring individuals I know. His attention and concern for victim services is also to be commended. Terry plans to bring back the domestic violence unit that has gone by the wayside under the current administration. He also has proposed several solutions to the jail overcrowding issue and a plan to work with other agencies and social services to implement a change. Terry Lawson will make Coconino County Sheriff's Department an agency to be proud of! Over the years I have maintained friendships with most of the employees of the Sheriff's Department and all of them are in support of Terry becoming their new Sheriff. Coconino County is due for a dynamic change in law enforcement and Terry Lawson is the man to do just that!
K. Musselman, Flagstaff
I have worked for the Sheriff's Office for almost seven years under Sheriff Richards, and I can honestly say that the best time I have had was during the three years that Pribil was retired. During this time Terry LAWSON was rightly promoted and was directly invovled in making the Sheriff's Office a wonderful place to work. This was due to his honesty, INTEGRITY, and willingness to due the job. As a young Deputy and armorer, I struggled with my armory budget of $1500.00. It only took a few days for, then, Captain Lawson, to help me in producing more money to help the deputies aquire more tools to in turn protect the citizens of Coconino County. Lawson didn't ask to raise taxes, he rather asked the administration to look at their BOOKS and see if they could possible change line items and put a little more money in the armory fund to help with training. Terry LAWSON is a very honest man. LAWSON will do what he says and WILL make this a better county to live in. He will also make the Coconino County Sheriff's Office a better enviornment to work in. Every day I hear from co-workers that Bill Pribil is JUST ANOTHER FACE IN THE HALL WAY. How can we vote for such a person? We need a leader and a mentor, that is why my vote goes to TERRY LAWSON. Lawson always had his desk pointed towards the door of his office and was willing to drop whatever he was doing to help his employees not to mention the public. Pribil, to this day, has his desk face the window and doesn't give any concern for his employees. Lawson is retired and still keeps in touch with his co-workers. Pribil is still working in the same building as his co-workers and refuses to walk down stairs and interact. It is easily seen, not only who the better candidate is, but also the better person.
M. Anton, Flagstaff
I know this campaign is going to come out very well. You have worked so hard. I am very proud to have watched this and you grow. There is such a difference between YOU and Bill it is not funny. You are absolutly the man. Go Terry Go.

I have known Terry for over 14 years and have found him to be a man of honor, integrity and trust. Over his 20+ year career with the CSO, Terry has held a variety of positions which have prepared him for the office of Sheriff. One of his most outstanding testimonies is to bring a deficit Detention Center budget back into a surplus during the period of time that he managed that facility. As a founding member of the Coconino County Jail District Task Force and as chair of that group, I have always appreciated his fiscal responsibility on behalf of the citizens. He provides an insight to what the job is all about allowing for change towards community-based law enforcement, and he displays the passion and zeal necessary to serve the citizens of the county in a professional manner.

Terry Lawson is simply the most kind-hearted, honest, caring person I've ever known. When he is focused, when he is motivated, when he is determined to make a change - there is no stopping him. The way Terry lives his life is a testament to his love of both the Sheriff's Department and the people of Coconino County. Although I haven't spoken with Terry for years, there was a time I knew him better than anybody. Because of that, I'm able to make this statement: There is NOBODY who will serve the people of northern Arizona with more integrity, commitment or conviction than Terry Lawson. Good Luck Terry - I'm very proud of you.

We are currently employees of the Sheriff's Office and although we have never worked directly under Terry he has always had an "open door" policy and been very approachable. Terry has shared his ideas about what he can do for this department. They are progressive and innovative and we need someone with ideals that will bring us out of the Stone Age that we are currently stuck in. Terry is an extremely positive person and maintains an enthusiasm about life that makes you want to be around him. We are postive that if Terry is elected as Sheriff that his enthusiasm and positive attitude will eventually make this department the "happy family" that it used to be. The citizens of Coconino County can be rest assured that if Terry is elected he will make sure that their needs are addressed. Our best of wishes to Terry and everyone remember September 7th! Good luck Terry! L & J
I just wanted to say that Terry Lawson will make a GREAT sheriff. He has a passion for the job that is markedly lacking in his opponent. I've known Terry for several years and I can honestly tell you that Terry genuinely wants to help and serve the citizens of Coconino County. He did that for 20 years serving as a deputy sheriff and then rising through the ranks to end as the jail commander. He wants to continue serving as our next sheriff. Let's all go out and vote for him.

Terry's the man! Let me tell you, knowing you and all that you stand for is so refreshing to those of us that live in the sloppy political state of California! We have the upmost confidence that you will win this election and provide Flagstaff with the highest regard and dedication. Really wish we still lived there and could see you in action! Who knows, maybe you being Sheriff will be the factor that makes us move back! Wink, wink! Best of luck! God Bless!

I have to honestly say that I have never worked with Terry. But, I do know him personally. Terry has a big heart, an open mind, high morals, is a good listener and has the burning desire to make the Sheriffs Office of Coconino County a better place to work, therefore, a more efficient Sheriffs office. Terry's experience, knowledge and high level of energy can and will make that become a reality, if elected. I have always exercised my right to vote. But, I have never been so passionate about an election as I am with this one. Knowing Terry has been an honor and privilege. If you're out there, sitting on the fence and not sure of who to vote for, take the advice from all of us who know Terry and vote for the best man. VOTE LAWSON for SHERIFF! Good luck, Terry!

I have worked for the Sheriff's Office for 5 years now. All of this time has been in the Jail. I worked in the old facility and assisted in transferring us into our new facility. In my short time at the Jail I have seen many things, and made many friends.
Unfortunately several of these people have moved on to other agencies or retired due largely in part to the current administration. The current administration has never treated us Detention Officers as equals. We in the jail have always been treated as the bastard child of this agency the only time we ever got a break was when Terry became the Jail Commander.
When Terry took over the Jail it was an absolute mess. Our moral was in the toilet and our division as a whole sucked! Terry turned that around, he gave us a mission, goals to achieve, a map on how we were going to accomplish these goals, and the inspiration to achieve these tasks. Additionally I know for a fact that he fixed the bottom line---our budget.
If Terry can do this with the Jail in a few months just imagine what he can do for the citizens of Coconino County.
Terry good luck and I will see you in the winners circle.

I have worked for the Sheriff's Office for the las seven years as an intern, detention officer, and currently a deputy-sheriff. One of the biggest observations I have made in that time is how much dedication Terry Lawson has given to this agency. In most of my tenure here, Lawson has served as the Captain. He has always had his finger on the pulse of this organization, including its employees. No matter what he was doing, Lawson would always take the time to talk to myself and other deputies, asking how we were and what we were working on. This always showed me that he truely cared about us and our organization.
I feel that Terry Lawson is the right man to run this agency. He has proven himself as a law enforcement officer and as a leader. Given the opportunity, he will prove himself an excellent sheriff to the county residents and to the empolyees of this department.
VOTE FOR TERRY LAWSON!!!

I am currently employed by the Coconino County Sheriffs Office and I hope my opinion counts to the citizens of this county. I can honestly say that the majority of employees at the Sheriffs Office support Terry Lawson for Sheriff. He brings fresh ideas and a new way of thinking that we need. There is something to say for a man that has the support of the Sheriffs Office employees and what that can do for this agency. With his leadership skills and the enthusiasm he generates from the employees this will bring our agency to a new and better level. Terry brings energy and excitement and this will ultimately benefit the citizens of this county that we serve. Our goal at the Coconino County Sheriffs Office is to provide the best public service that we can. Unfortunately this is somewhat lacking now and with Terry as Sheriff and his new administration we all feel that this can be accomplished with his leadership and our support that he already has.
Please make the right choice and vote Terry Lawson for Sheriff.

As a 14 year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, I am fully endorsing Terry Lawson for a variety of reasons. To keep it short and to the point, he is a man of integrity. He is open to ideas, and has desire to empower his people, and then to back them. I have not always agreed with every decision, but have alwasy been listened to and respected by Terry which in turn I have always given back. He was my first supervisor in the jail, and have worked with him in some capacity for most of these 14 years. Terry has the abilty to motivate and inspire, it's called leadership. He made a full squad want to come to work, even when it was graveyard shift in the jail. I absulately hate to see morale the way it is right now. I look foward to the leadership abilities he possesses. You lead from the front, and I have witnessed this. God speed Terry.

I am writing these comments in the hope that many of the people it the community are interested in learning the truth about Terry Lawson and his ability to lead an organization of this size.
I have worked most of my career with Terry in one division or another. I was always about one rank behind him or for short periods worked at the same level. This gave me the opportunity to observe him as a co-worker and as a subordinate. Terry is probably one of the most honest and compassionate people I know. He values people and their differences. His integrity has never been questioned to my knowledge and if it has, it would show great ignorance in the person questioning it. I can't say that he and I always agreed, and in fact had some very big blow outs. I can say however that Terry never held a grudge and always followed through until the issue was resolved. We were able to disagree and still remain friends through over 20 years of working together.
I won't speak for Terry, but I would like to discuss some of the reason's I left the Sheriff's Department and why I continue to support Terry. After Sheriff Richards decided to throw in the towel and not run, he selected Pribil as his choice to support. There became an obvious effort to push certain people out of the organization that did not support Pribil. Now I have worked for both Pribil and Lawson and can tell you first hand --- all the things I said above --- Pribil is lacking. As I and many others made it known that we could not support Prible as our next sheriff, the isolation began. I was then the Lieutenant over Criminal Investigations and found that I was no longer in the loop. Meetings were called without me and other specific people not being invited, but we were still held accountable for the information that was provided. This and many other unprofessional things were done to push certain individuals out of the department. When I finally got to the point where I felt as though my efforts were ineffective for my people and I found no gratification in coming to work any longer, I decided to retire. I am currently working as a International Police Adviser working with the Iraqi Police in Baghdad Iraq. I can tell you that my work conditions have improved 100% since I have seperated from the current administration at the Coconino County Sheriff's Office -- first and formost Bill Pribil. Unfortunately I hear daily that the environment at the Sheriff's Office is continuing to deteriorate.
I beleive that the only thing that will cause the current environment to turn around and become healthy again, is to replace the current administration.
Anyone that knows me knows that I didn't leave the department as a disgruntaled employee and I am not writing this as one. I am happy with my decision to leave and am having an adventure of a lifetime. I do however have great compassion for those at the Sheriff's office that I left behind and know how bad it is getting to simply come to work each day.
Please give all of these dedicated people an opportunity to serve you while they themselves are treated well. VOTE for TERRY LAWSON for SHERIFF.
Sincerely
Douglas Cathey

Terry, I would wish you the best of luck but I don't think you will need it because I know that the best man will get the job. And that would be you The "Law Man" Sheriff Terry Lawson. It has been a pleasure having you as an uncle and a friend. It is wonderful thing that you are doing for the community. I believe you have the energy and heart felt commitment to the citizens of Coconino County and the employees of every Public Service entity to be a strong, honest leader in Northern Arizona. Not only as your wife but also as a citizen and employee of Coconino County, I look forward to your leadership as Sheriff. I believe in you!

Terry, I wish you the best of luck in your campaign. I think you will make an excellent Sheriff. I believe you are an honest and sincere person and have the best interest of the community at heart and not political gain. It is definitely time for a change and not a repeat of the last 30 years. I hope for a safer community and a new found morale for the Sheriff's Department with you as Sheriff. God Speed.

First and foremost, even though Terry is my brother and I love him dearly, my opinion would be the same if he were not. Terry is a dedicated professional who possesses and has always demonstrated his concern for those that he works with and for those that he is entrusted to protect.
Secondly, Coconino County's public safety image will be further enhanced by Terry's selection as your next Sheriff. Terry will bring a fresh mentality to the county and will create a more proactive persona for the department.
Super job Terry, we all love and miss you and wish you the best of luck in this campaign.
Love
Brian
